在1945年7月30日，中国29军169师和预备11师在日军撤退后光复桂林。虽然伤亡较轻，但是日本人在撤退前进行了全面的破坏。如照片所示，政府宣传队在城中贴满了谴责日本的标语，碉堡亦随处可见。

Chinese Troops of the169th Div.and the11th Res.Div.,29th Chinese Army reoccupied Kweilin as the Japanese withdrew.The casualties were light but before retiring the Japs completed asystematic program of destruction.Political service personnel put signs on ever(y)bit of available space denouncing the Japs,as shown in this picture,and pill boxes were widely used.
